Las Vegas Raiders’ Brock Bowers reacts to Rob Gronkowski’s high praise
The Las Vegas Raiders appear to have something special brewing with No. 13 overall pick and tight end Brock Bowers, who is off to a fantastic start to his career.
Bowers is already setting all kinds of records after tallying 15 receptions for 156 yards over his first two games. He’s also coming off a career-best outing in Week 2 that saw him finish with nine catches for 98 yards in an upset win over the Ravens.
Bowers’ impressive start to his career has caught the attention of plenty of people, one of which is future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski, who is one of the best to ever play the position.
âI feel like heâs on track to be better than myself,” Gronkowski said of Bowers on Up & Adams with Kay Adams. “I donât think he can dominate in the trenches the way I dominated in the trenches, but just overall as a pass-catching tight end, I think he can surpass me in many situations.â
Bowers obviously caught wind of the praise from Gronkowski and was no doubt happy to hear it.
âThat was pretty sweet just hearing him say that just because I looked up to him when I was little, just watching him when I was growing up,” Bowers said, according to Vegas Sports Today. “You want to be like him, so it was pretty cool hearing that.”
After two games, Bowers leads all NFL tight ends in receptions and receiving yards, and he’s tied for second among all pass-catchers in the former category. As a result, Bowers is firmly on track to be in the conversation for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Bowers and the Raiders will look to keep the good times rolling in a Week 3 matchup against the Carolina Panthers that will be Las Vegas’ first home game of 2024.
