Las Vegas Raiders look primed to lose Jakorian Bennett trade with Philadelphia Eagles
There was no shortage of frustration from Las Vegas Raiders fans when the team traded cornerback Jakorian Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Bennett entered the 2025 offseason as a projected starter for the Raiders after he had a bounce-back campaign in 2024. Bennett was limited to 10 games because of injury, but in those 10 games he surrendered a completion rate of just 52.3% and a passer rating of 67.7.
However, Bennett never seemed to catch on with the new coaching staff in 2025, which led to him being traded for defensive lineman Thomas Booker.
Since then, Bennett appears to be establishing himself as a starter in Philadelphia after two impressive preseason showings.
Bennett surrendered completions on five of the eight passes thrown his way, giving up just 37 yards. He also tallied a pair of pass break-ups, a 73.4 passer rating and a Pro Football Focus coverage grade of 86.2. Those numbers are made more impressive by the fact that Bennett is still new in Philly’s defense.
Jakorian Bennet this preseason for the #Eagles:

ā«ļø 8 targets
ā«ļø 5 catches allowed
ā«ļø 37 passing yards allowed
ā«ļø 2 PBUs
ā«ļø 73.4 passer rating allowed

ā NFL Draft Files (@NFL_DF) August 27, 2025Bennett’s early success is especially glaring when you consider that the Raiders have major concerns at cornerback.
Las Vegas has two unproven players in Decamerion Richardson and Darien Porter, and perennially disappointing veterans in Darnay Holmes and Eric Stokes.
The Raiders don’t appear to have that much faith in those guys, either, as they pushed former Baltimore Ravens fifth-round pick Kyu Blu Kelly into the starting cornerback competition late in training camp.
Granted, there’s still a long way to go before we can say who won the trade, and it is true that Booker was solid in exhibition play.
But it’s also quite clear the Raiders have a big issue at cornerback, which made it puzzling for the team to trade away a promising 25-year-old Booker, who doesn’t figure to be an every-down lineman, even if he starts.
