Lego X-Men Mansion Costs More Than A Nintendo Switch But Looks Incredible

I don’t have the money or the space to buy my all of my favorite Lego sets anymore, but I’m very tempted to splurge on the brick homage to the X-Men mansion that’s coming not long after X-Men ‘97 on Disney+ reignited my spandex-covered mutant imagination. Maybe not $330 tempted, but close!
The latest luxe licensed Lego set showcases Charles Xavier’s school for the gifted, a multi-floor mansion, and a cast of X-Men heroes and villains including Wolverine, Jean Grey, Magneto, and a giant Sentinel. The 3,093-piece set is basically a dollhouse for ‘90s Marvel nerds. And even though it costs more than a Nintendo Switch, there are some neat exclusives in the set.
Namely the collection of 10 really good-looking mini-figures:
Iceman Jean Grey Gambit Bishop Rogue Wolverine Storm CyclopsMagneto Professor XThe yellow hover chair for Charles is a nice touch, and the detail work on the figures is surprisingly good. The set itself opens up and contains several modular sections, with areas that include Jean Grey’s Lab and the Danger Room. Then there’s the Sentinel attacking the school from the outside. It doesn’t look like there are any exploding wall mechanisms, but I’m sure some enterprising fans can design their own with the right pieces.
The set goes up for sale on the Lego website on November 1 for Lego Insiders and November 4 for everyone else. It’s the latest in a long line of Marvel-inspired sets, including the less than amazing Blackbird jet. Unfortunately, the new mansion doesn’t come with Beast either. The only way to get the blue genius is through mini-figure packs which are basically randomized loot boxes.
