Leighton Meester Just Went Serena van der Woodsen Blonde for Fall 2025

Leighton Meester has traded her pumpkin spice ginger hair for another fall shade. Listen, nothing says back-to-school season like a Gossip Girl rewatch that makes you contemplate going Serena van der Woodsen blonde.

While Blake Lively’s blonde hair wasn’t always consistant between seasons—which is common for blondes searching for their most complimentary shade—I’m specifically thinking of her look in season one, which featured a cool-toned base and enough bright, thin highlights to completely deplete your colorist’s supply of foil.

On September 21, the 39-year-old actor that famously played Blair Waldorf posted an Instagram video rocking the piecey gold highlights that captivated teens throughout the mid-aughts. An inevitable response to the chunky highlight craze of the early 2000s, the look featured a ā€œmousy blondā€ base and ultra-thin golden strands to add vibrance and dimension without looking blatantly artificial. The key is to match your brow to your base for a more authentic look.

Of course, that’s where the comparison ends. Leighton Meester has gone back a wavy lob after appearing at the 2025 Emmys with mid-length auburn hair, while her romantic Pride & Prejudice bangs have grown long enough to pin back behind her ears. The star of her makeup look is her dreamy lavender eyeshadow, topping off the look with a couple rhinestones on the corners of her eye and bottom lash line.

Presumably filming an upcoming project, she debuted the new color from her trailer, announcing a CCHS Network sweepstakes to raise money for families effected by Congenital Central Hypoventilation Syndrome. One participant will earn a virtual coffee date with Meester and the chance to ask her how she really felt about the final Gossip Girl reveal…
