Leopard Print Got a Major Update in 2025–Here’s 5 Ways to Style the Trend
While a leopard cannot change its spots, the leopard-print pattern has gone through many iterations to survive decades of trend cycles.
Because of its versatility in color and shape, leopard print never truly goes out of style, though it certainly took a backseat after the leopard boom of the mid-2010s. (Sidebar: Does everyone remember the “subtle” leopard skirts everyone seemed to own in 2018? Pair that silk midiskirt with a simple black top and slingbacks and you were basically a Manhattan It girl.)
But as kitschy and maximalist trends take over the current fashion landscape in the wake of sartorial utilitarianism and quiet luxury, there has been a predictable resurgence of bold leopard prints on and off the runways. By the end of 2024, leopard-print pants were one of the biggest trends on TikTok, with the pattern itself fitting into multiple aesthetics, from mob wife to Y2K nostalgia.

But as leopard print finds its way back onto every possible clothing item and accessory in 2025, celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence and Hailey Bieber have crowned the official 2025 It item: the leopard-print coat.
Whether that’s due to the cold winter months or this year’s resurgence of faux and vintage fur coats is up for debate, though it’s fair to say both play into the hype. And even outside of coat form, fashion lovers are leaning into the animalistic side of leopard print, favoring fur and pony-hair accessories with large, organic takes on the print. Here’s how your faves and impeccable dressers are styling leopard print in 2025.

On February 12, Jennifer Lawrence was photographed wearing Malene Birger’s bold leopard Rafaia Coat featuring a peter pan collar. In contrast with the feminine style, she accessorized with atypically chunky black boots, a ribbed beanie and large leather tote, all of which keeps the look from skewing anywhere close to the mob wife aesthetic. She topped the ensemble off with her favored cord necklace, further adjusting the statement coat to fit her personal style

Hailey Bieber also avoided the mob wife aesthetic by pairing her leopard coat with trousers and minimal accessories like black skinny sunglasses and a square-toed shoe. By merging the bold trend with a touch of corpcore, Bieber demonstrates the perfect starter-look for just beginning to play with pattern and textures.

If you’re looking to style those leopard jeans and party dresses, it may be worth adding a touch of fur or fur-adjacent textures to lean into the animalistic spirit of the textile. For example, Kylie Jenner recently wore a little sheer leopard print dress that featured a black crushed velvet skirt and chest panel. You can see the photo here.
Or you can completely flip the script, pairing your printed leopard piece with a plain fur coat, as multiple street style experts demonstrated during NYFW.

Another way to add a fresh spin to your grandmother’s vintage leopard fur would be to add on even more leopard or a second animal print, especially if they also feature fur or ponytail. In 2025, more is more again.

Everyone knows leopard print goes great with a red lip but there’s really no color that doesn’t look good next to the earthy-tones of a jungle cat. As my mother always says there are three wardrobe neutrals: black, brown, and leopard print—and that’s never been more true than in 2025.
