LINDSEY ROSE BLACK Releases Troy Sivan’s Cover Of “One of Your Girls”

October 4, 2024 – Up-and-coming indie pop singer Lindsey Rose Black is thrilled to release her cover of Troy Sivan’s song “One of Your Girls” that is out now on all platforms.

This cover was produced with Emily Moore, Troye Sivan’s touring guitarist who reimagines the song with a playful sapphic lens just in time for femme top fall.

“One of Your Girls” showcases Lindsey’s unique vocals while allowing listeners to connect deeply with the story she is trying to tell. The lyrics explore themes of vulnerability and resilience, capturing the essence of shared experiences. Lindsey’s emotive delivery draws the audience in, making them feel the weight of each word. Through her powerful storytelling, she creates a sense of community, inviting listeners to reflect on their own journeys and the universal emotions that bind us all. The blend of heartfelt lyrics and her captivating voice ensures that the song resonates long after it ends.

Lindsey says, “The second I heard ‘One Of Your Girls’ for the first time, I knew I had to cover it with a sapphic lens! The lyrics immediately took me back to growing up in a conservative community and being scared to explore my sexuality in high school, but crushing on my girl friends and trying to figure out how to navigate it. What would make them look at me the way they looked at the football players?!

I tried to capture this time visually, too, through a subversive play on homecoming — embodying both masculine and feminine energies with a Texas-centric twist. Those crazy ribbons are called mums, and a funny Texas homecoming tradition. It was a stroke of luck that I rediscovered mine from high school in my dad’s attic this summer and then everything came together!

I am so full of joy and gratitude to now be in a mental space where I can wholeheartedly embrace both my small town Texas roots and my queer identity simultaneously, and hope other Southern folks on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum feel seen, supported, and celebrated. Shout-out to therapy!
