Liverpool, Chelsea ‘willing to pay £171m for Real Madrid star’

Liverpool and Chelsea are allegedly prepared to pay £171m to bring Vinicius Junior to the Premier League, but Real Madrid have no interest in a sale.

Liverpool and Chelsea have reportedly made it clear to Real Madrid that they would be prepared to pay €200m (£171m) to bring Vinicius Junior to the Premier League.
The 23-year-old arrived at Bernabeu from Flamengo in 2018, and he has made 253 appearances for Los Blancos in all competitions, scoring 77 goals and registering 72 assists in the process.

Vinicius has won two La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League during his time at the club, and he is bidding to lead the team to more success in the league and European Cup this term.

The Brazil international has 18 goals and eight assists in 28 appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side during the 2023-24 campaign, and he signed a new contract with the capital giants last October, with his current agreement due to run until the summer of 2027.

However, there has recently been speculation surrounding Vinicius’s future, as Real Madrid are widely expected to sign Kylian Mbappe on a free transfer this summer.

Liverpool, Chelsea prepared to spend big on Vinicius

According to El Debate, both Liverpool and Chelsea want to bring Vinicius to the Premier League, and the English duo would be willing to pay €200m (£171m) for his signature.

The report claims that Paris Saint-Germain would also be prepared to offer that amount, with the French champions viewing him as a possible replacement for Mbappe.

However, Vinicius allegedly has no desire to leave Real Madrid, and the capital outfit are also not prepared to entertain any offers for him during this summer’s transfer window.

Manchester United have also recently been credited with an interest in the South American, who has 15 goals and eight assists across La Liga and the Champions League this season.

Vinicius could be in line for another new deal this summer
According to Sport, Real Madrid are aware of the impact that Mbappe’s arrival could have on the rest of the squad, as the France international is set to become the club’s best-paid player.

The report claims that Vinicius could therefore be in line for another new deal, which would see his agreement extended until June 2029 and also include a salary increase to move him close to Mbappe.

The likely arrival of Mbappe will create an interesting and welcome dilemma for Ancelotti, who changed to a 4-3-1-2 formation this season due to Karim Benzema’s departure and the arrival of Jude Bellingham.

Vinicius and Rodrygo have primarily played as the front two this season with Bellingham in the number 10 spot, but Mbappe’s favoured position is down the left, and it remains to be seen whether Ancelotti alters his formation heading into the 2024-25 campaign.

Rodrygo’s future is also being called into question, though, with both Arsenal and Man United said to be keeping a close eye on the Brazilian’s situation in Madrid.
