Liverpool handed huge boost ahead of Brentford clash
Liverpool can extend their lead at the top of the Premier League table to five points with victory over Brentford in Saturdayâs early kick-off.Â
The Reds currently sit two points ahead of reigning champions Manchester City and Arsenal, but victory over the Bees would extend that advantage.
Last time out, the Merseyside outfit returned to winning ways against Burnley, having been beaten by the Gunners in their previous match.
Ahead of the game, Liverpool have been handed a huge boost.
Speaking in the build up to the match, manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that talisman Mohamed Salah is back in contention to be involved against Brentford.
âMo Salah is back in full training. Heâs in contention, of course,â the German said, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Salah, 31, hasnât featured for the Reds since scoring twice in a 4-2 win over Newcastle United on New Yearâs Day and his return will be welcome for Klopp.
Salah suffered an injury whilst on international duty with Egypt
Initially Salah was on international duty with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, but he suffered an injury at the tournament in the Ivory Coast and has therefore had his return to club football delayed.
The Egyptian is firmly in the hunt for the Golden Boot award this season and will be keen to pick up where he left off against the Magpies.
Salah has scored 18 times already this season, netting 14 times in 20 top flight matches.
In total the forward has netted a remarkable 204 times in 332 games for Liverpool since joining the club from AS Roma in 2017.
In his absence, the likes of Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota have been tasked with spearheading the Redsâ attack, but Salah may well make an instant return to the Liverpool starting line-up on Saturday.
