The player’s future at Anfield has been the subject of intense speculation and rumour in recent months, but it appears now that he may well be staying put on Merseyside.
As per Football Insider, Liverpool are hopeful of agreeing a new contract with the forward before the end of the year.
Salah’s current contract with the Reds is set to expire next summer, which means he could sign a pre-contract agreement with any foreign club in January.
Salah is in the final year of his contract with Liverpool
The 32-year-old claimed after Liverpool’s win over Manchester United on Sunday that ‘nobody has talked to me’ about extending his current contract.
Salah joined Liverpool from Italian outfit Roma in 2017 and has since established himself as one of the best forwards in the world.
He has scored a remarkable 214 goals in 352 games for the club, as well as registering 92 assists.
It is claimed that Liverpool want to agree a new deal with the player before the transfer window reopens in January.
The report suggests that those in charge of Liverpool were waiting until new manager Arne Slot had settled into his new role before turning their attention to a new contract for Salah, as well as teammates Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Last summer, Salah was the subject of a staggering £150 million offer from Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad, and the Pro League outfit are likely to reignite their interest next year if the player’s future remains uncertain.
