Liverpool star demanding huge new deal
Liverpool maintained their lead at the top of the Premier League table with a 2-1 win over Chelsea at Anfield on Sunday.Â
The Reds had temporarily been knocked off of top spot by Manchester City following their win over Wolves, but a 2-1 victory moved Arne Slot’s side back into top spot.
Mohamed Salah put the hosts in front from the penalty spot at Anfield, after Levi Colwill had fouled Curtis Jones.
Nicolas Jackson drew the visitors level after the break, but Salah then turned provider to set up Jones for what proved to be the winner.
Salah now has a combined 13 goals and assists in 11 matches across all competitions so far this season, but the Egyptian’s future remains uncertain with just months remaining on his current contract.
Now, it appears that the player himself is demanding a huge new deal.
According to Football Insider, the forward is holding out for a bumper new deal that will run until 2027.

Salah is one of three key players – along with captain Virgil van Dijk and fullback Trent Alexander-Arnold – that are currently in the final year of their respective contracts.
The club are keen to keep hold of all three stars, and the report claims that the Reds also believe that Salah’s preference is to agree an extension.
The 32-year-old joined Liverpool from Italian side Roma seven years ago, and has since scored 218 times in 360 games for the club, as well as providing 95 assists.
It has been speculated that the player has already agreed a move to Saudi Arabia once his contract expires, but the report suggests that Liverpool aren’t concerned about the speculation and are instead confident of reaching an agreement over an extension.
Last year the winger was the subject of a £150 million offer from Saudi side Al-Ittihad, and the Pro League outfit could reignite their interest in the coming months.
