Liverpool’s best and worst players in hectic win over Tottenham

Liverpool got back to winning ways on Sunday with a hectic 4-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

Goals from Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott put Liverpool in a dominant position and even a late fight-back from Spurs could not stop the Reds from putting on a show in Jurgen Klopp’s penultimate home game.

Here are Liverpool’s best and worst performers according to 90min’s player ratings.

Starting in midfield following Salah’s return to the lineup, Elliott ran the show with a truly impactful performance.

He set up Gakpo’s goal with a delightful cross before providing the highlight of the match in the form of an absolute scorching strike from the edge of the box.

It came as a bit of a surprise to see Gakpo starting ahead of Darwin Nunez here but, as always, Klopp’s decision was quickly justified as the Dutchman played a huge part in Liverpool’s early dominance.

He grabbed the assist for the opening goal and popped up with a fantastic header for the third, reminding fans that he still has a huge part to play for this team.

Virgil van Dijk – 6/10Van Dijk didn’t cover himself in glory / Stu Forster/GettyImages

Look, it was hardly a bad performance from Virgil van Dijk, but he will be frustrated with the manner in which things began to unravel late on.

Richarlison’s introduction really stretched the Dutchman, who looked to be tiring as the clock ticked on. Perhaps he was not fully fit after being an injury scare in the build-up.
