Lord Jamar Recalls Rumor Diddy Was Fired From Uptown Records Over “Precarious Act” With Man

Lord Jamar has suggested that Sean “Diddy” Combs was fired from Uptown Records due to his sexual proclivities during his tenure with the label.

During an appearance on the Art of Dialogue, Lord Jamar weighed in on the controversy surrounding Combs, who is currently incarcerated after being indicted on racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

According to Lord Jamar, Combs was rumored to have been let go from his post at Uptown Records during the early ’90s after being caught in a “precarious” sexual act with another man. “I’m just saying, that was the rumor,” the Brand Nubian member added, noting that the other man allegedly involved was someone of high social stature.

Lord Jamar continued to lend credence to the accusations regarding Combs’ sexuality, insisting the embattled mogul is a part of a powerful “Gay Mafia” within entertainment. However, the rap vet was adamant that the prosecution and persecution of Combs is only the tip of the iceberg, and that he’s not the main culprit within his circle.

“You just saw one of the gay mafia members. That’s who he is, that’s who Puffy is,” Lord Jamar told the outlet. “He is one of the members of the mob. He’s a mafia member. But he might not be the Don Carl, he is not the godfather. He is one of the heads of the family.”

Prior to founding Bad Boy Records, Combs’ initial big break in the music biz was as an executive at Uptown Records during the late ’80s and early ’90s.

Rising from an intern to one of the highest-ranking executives at the label, Combs, according to himself and others, was unceremoniously fired from Uptown Records in 1993 due to his volatile nature and uncontrollable ego.

Combs would later reflect on his ouster on various occasions, admitting fault for the role he played in the decision. “I was very passionate, and I didn’t understand protocol or workplace politics,” Combs once told Oprah Winfrey.

“So I got fired because there can’t be two kings in one castle. I wasn’t trying to be disrespectful to Andre, but I was fighting so hard. He wanted to be more diplomatic and to make sure everybody felt involved. Getting fired was one of the best things that could have happened to me.”
