Loud Jared Goff chant breaks out during ‘College GameDay’ in Ann Arbor

The Jared Goff chant has become the stuff of legend and you just never know when it’s become almost a certainty that you’ll hear it at least once during sporting events that involve teams from the state of Michigan.

The chant has invaded basketball, baseball and hockey games, and we’ve even heard it at a high school cheer competition. The Jared Goff chant is simply inevitable at this point.

ESPN’s College GameDay was in Ann Arbor on Saturday morning ahead of the game between the defending national champion and No. 9 Michigan Wolverines and No. 3 Texas Longhorns.

During the broadcast, a Jared Goff chant broke out, and it was loud and relentless and as great as any other we’ve heard over the years. WXYZ Detroit’s Brad Galli got the audio and video of the College GameDay crowd chanting the name of the Detroit Lions quarterback.

— Brad Galli (@BradGalli) September 7, 2024No matter how many times we hear it, the Jared Goff chant never gets old.

The love for Goff is well-deserved, as the Lions signal-caller has played a huge role in pulling the franchise out of its dark ages since head coach Dan Campbell and general manager Brad Holmes took over.

After the Los Angeles Rams gave up on Goff and sent him to Detroit in the Matthew Stafford trade, the veteran signal-caller gave the offense instant credibility and has enjoyed two of the better years of his career in the previous two campaigns.

Goff completed 65.1% of his passes for 4,438 yards and 29 touchdowns to seven picks in 2022, which earned him a Pro Bowl nod. Then, in 2023, Goff completed 67.3% of his passes for 4,575 yards and 30 touchdowns to 12 interceptions before leading the Lions all the way to the NFC Championship Game.

Goff is already one of the best quarterbacks in franchise history, but he can cement himself as the best if he can get Detroit over the hump to win its first Super Bowl.

And if he does, we’ll be hearing the Jared Goff chant for a long, long time.
