Ludacris recently shared that he visited Alaska for a show and while there, he checked something off of his bucket list.

On Monday (Aug. 26), the rapper and actor shared that he made time to visit an ancient Alaskan glacier where he drank from its waters. And as clear and clean as the water appeared, social media users shared concern for his unsafe choices.

Following much commentary, Ludacris took to his X account yesterday (Aug. 27) to not only show that he was still alive, but to share how great the water tasted.

“For everybody asking me how that glacier water really tasted, when I tell y’all I am a water snob, it was the best tasting water I’ve ever had in my life,” he said in a video. “As I drank it, I felt like every cell in my human body was being hydrated and rejuvenated at the same damn time.” He also said he had the greatest show in Alaska after his sip, and that he felt like “superman.”

Luda initially shared himself standing near an icy blue glacier where he shared that he was fulfilling a dream of his.

“Listen, half of the world’s glaciers are in Alaska and I just couldn’t come here and have a show,” he began. “You know I got a bucket list or as I like to call it, a f**k it list. I’ve never tasted fresh glacial water ever in my life and this is a first.”

He then filled up his water bottle and took a refreshing sip that made him yell out, “Oh my God!”

Following the post, his comment section filled with people voicing concern about the dangers of sipping natural waters without any kind of sterilization.

“Be careful with glacier water! Even though it looks fresh and clean, it’s often full of bacteria, parasites, and viruses… Microorganisms you definitely don’t want in your system.. It can make you extremely sick. Make sure to boil it first to stay safe!” wrote one person. Another person said, “I thought you were not supposed to do this ? I saw somewhere you can get super sick.”

Ice Cube’s son, O’Shea Jackson Jr., also reacted to the clip on X with a repost of a TikTok made by a man who also sipped AK glacial waters and became sick for two weeks. “How long ago did he shoot this and have we been monitoring him?” he captioned the post.

According to The U.S. National Parks Service website, it states that you should “never drink water from a natural source that you haven’t purified, even if the water looks clean.” That includes “water in a stream, river or lake.”

It continues that “although the water may look clean it can still be filled with bacteria, viruses, and parasites that can result in waterborne diseases, such as cryptosporidiosis or giardiasis.” The site informs that it is essential that you purify natural water by “filtering to remove large particles and treating by boiling or with chemicals to kill organisms such as bacteria, viruses and parasites.”
