The Houston Rockets’ 11-game winning streak was no match for Luka Dončić.

The Dallas Mavericks star racked up 47 points as the Rockets defeated the Rockets 125-107 Sunday night.

Dončić made nine threes while adding 12 rebounds and seven assists in the victory.

Dončić’s explosive night started with him racking up 32 points in the first half.

He finished the contest having shot 18-for-30 from the field, and 9-for-16 from deep.

It seemed there was no shot Dončić couldn’t make Sunday, starting with a trick shot in warmups:

…and ending with a one-handed underhand scoop shot during the game.

Sam Vecenie @Sam_VecenieThe 20-foot finger roll (yes you read that right) that Luka just hit at the start of the second half here against Houston is one of the wilder shots I’ve seen go in on an NBA court.

Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving added 24 points in the victory.

He and power forward P.J. Washington combined for seven three-pointers, while Dončić’s nine made him the most prolific scorer from behind the arc in Mavericks history.

All Things Mavs @All_Things_MavsLuka Doncic is an absolute menace. You cannot stop this man from doing anything he wants on the court.

Dončić’s dominant performance led fans to decide he has won the race for the 2024 NBA MVP Award.

The Mavericks star has finished in the top 10 of MVP voting in each of the past four seasons but has never won the award.

Brad Townsend @townbradAny voters out there wondering about Luka Doncic’s MVP-worthiness should go back and watch this first quarter.

Noah Weber @noahweber00A look at Luka Doncic compared to other MVP candidates:

Doncic has 4 30-point first halves THIS SEASON.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has NEVER had a 30-point first half.

Nikola Jokic has 1 30-point first half in his 9-year career.

Jayson Tatum has 3 career 30-point first halves.

Kevin Gray Jr. @KevinGraySportsLuka Doncic has sent an MVP message to the rest of the league tonight, the winning the Mavericks are doing, the insane numbers, his MVP credentials are absolutely undeniable! #MFFL

Dončić’s MVP campaign, and the Mavericks’ push to steal the No. 5 seed in the West from the New Orleans Pelicans, will continue Tuesday as the team heads to the West Coast to take on the Golden State Warriors.
