Luke Humphries explains bizarre moment from European Tour
World number one Luke Humphries was back in action this past weekend at the European Darts Grand Prix.
Humphries had opted out of a couple of the previous European Tour events, presumably in order to focus on the final stretch of the Premier League action.
Humphries is in a comfortable position in the Premier League table, currently sitting second with 26 points, which is 9 points ahead of Nathan Aspinall who holds the final playoff spot as of now.
Despite this, he has been knocked out in the quarterfinal in two of the last three Premier League weekly nights.
What on earth was Luke Humphries doing?Humphries cruised to a 6-1 victory in his round-two win in Germany, with a three-dart average of 98.8 against Connor Scutt.
He went 6/14 on doubles (43%) and had an impressive 120 checkout in the first leg.

During the match, a clip of Humphries went semi-viral when he was seen bending over to take a hands-free sip from his water.
TalkSport highlighted that when Humphries was asked about the interesting decision, he stated “My hands were so sweaty, and I didn’t want to touch the glass because there was so much moisture that I was like, ‘if I pick it up with my hands…’”
PDC
It certainly looked like a peculiar move at first with no context, but after hearing Humphries’ justification it seemed like a smart move despite the way he looked.
Darts players can be thrown off by the smallest inconveniences, and Humphries clearly felt here that any added moisture on his hands would change his gripping and bother him when throwing.
Humphries later lost to Michael Smith in the third round (round of 16), in what was one of the best games of the weekend. Luke’s ton-plus average of 100.77 wasn’t enough to combat Smith’s 106.53 in the match, where Smith went on to win 6-5.
Humphries will look to get back in the right direction on Thursday when he will face Michael van Gerwen in the quarterfinal match of week 14 of the Premier League.
