Machine Gun Kelly and Trippie Redd have scheduled two free shows to promote their surprise-release EP, Genre : Sadboy. Cleveland-based Machine Gun Kelly and Canton-born Trippie Redd unveiled the quick-approaching concerts today, soon after the mentioned 10-track effort became available to fans.

“i’ve never dropped a surprise project before,” MGK wrote in part of the release, rumors of which had circulated on Twitter/X and other platforms closer to March’s beginning. “no single, or major rollout. this feels amazing. thanks to all fan pages.”

Not stopping there, however, the multi-genre artist and 24-year-old Trippie Redd have teed up an April 2nd show at New York City’s Irving Plaza and an April 4th performance at Columbus’ The Bluestone.

According to Live Nation’s website, the former venue “accommodates up to 1,100 guests.” And The Bluestone, described as “a 115-year-old church transformed into an open hardwood floor, central stage and wrap-around balcony,” can per its own website welcome a similarly modest number of attendees.

Although fans must use a credit card to cover “a temporary $1 authorization” when applying for tickets, a requirement that could prevent uninterested parties from seeking passes for the sake of doing so, it goes without saying that there will be significantly more requests than available tickets.

However, Trippie Redd noted on social media this afternoon that the promotion-minded undertaking, which starkly contrasts the live-performance strategies employed by many other commercially prominent acts, could expand to include additional stops.

“2 free shows. Might add more where should we come?” the Trip At Knight artist asked fans, seemingly driving more responses about and interest in Genre : Sadboy.

Regarding the application process for tickets, Ticketmaster is currently fielding “requests” via a dedicated page. The window to submit said requests (for up to two tickets per show) will end at 10 PM EST this coming Sunday, and the passes will be non-transferrable, the Live Nation subsidiary made clear. “Tickets are free and not guaranteed,” Ticketmaster added for good measure.

Those who do secure tickets – that selection process will presumably be random – are expected to receive an email notification by Monday, April 1st. According once again to The Bluestone’s website, the Thursday, April 4th, show will kick off at seven o’clock local time and wrap just before midnight.
