Ed McCaffrey @87edIt is surreal and incredible to see @CMC_22 don the cover of Madden 25. Proud dad moment!
We’ve come a long way from seeing my boys play Madden 2001. And now Christian will continue the late, great John Madden’s legacy!

One of the biggest issues facing the Madden franchise in recent years has been the sense of sameness that has permeated the game since it peaked in the mid-2010s.
Developers have spent years trying to fend off those criticisms by introducing new modes, flashier graphics, and menu options without addressing the root of the problem: stale gameplay.
This year, EA brings forth FieldSENSE, a “physics-informed dynamic tackling system” available only on next-gen platforms. “A new data-driven physics system considers timing, momentum, weight, speed, strength, and player ratings to inform 1-on-1 ball carrier impact for a wider variety of explosive and authentic physical outcomes,” the game’s official website revealed.
The developers also promise a better-than-ever hit stick and a new ability for runners to use balance and recovery to absorb the harshest of blows, break tackles, and pick up big yardage.
The game features a revamped Franchise mode, including “Franchise Central with simplified league creation tools and more information at your fingertips so you can drive your Franchise to victory.” Joining it are experiential storytelling, a reinvigorated presentation, and commentary teams that include Mike Tirico, Greg Olsen, Brock Huard, and Kate Scott.
The repeated use of the word “revamped” across the game’s marketing materials suggests developers knew it was time to shake things up or risk further disenfranchisement with the once-dominant title.
Putting in the effort to enhance the gameplay with improved tackling, hit stick, and trucking was a step in the right direction.
Upgrading the already-popular Ultimate Team, Franchise, and Superstar modes will only further endear the developers and the title to fans looking for some reason to continue to show loyalty to them.
It remains to be seen whether the changes make for a better playing experience or if it ultimately amounts to more of the same but longtime fans will get their answers sooner rather than later, with the game’s hotly anticipated upcoming release.
