More Than Half of Top 500 SF 6 Players are in Japan
Playing online, the Street Fighter 6 ranked mode is the focus for a lot of players. It’s the mode where you can test out your skills against other high-level players. However, the Street Fighter 6’s ranking system is international. You’ll be against everyone in the same skill tier. A recent investigation into how the ranks work has explained quite a bit about how the demographics break down. @MrAminechan has delved into how the rank distribution works.
It looks like over 60% of the top 500 players are Japanese for Street Fighter 6. Specifically, 309 of the top 500 ranked players. Second in this breakdown is the USA, with 44. Followed by China at 34. Only Korea and Brazil even ranked in double digits outside of this. Clearly, there’s a standout in terms of regions for Street Fighter 6.
At major tournaments like the Capcom Cup, we definitely see Japanese players showing up in the higher tiers. However, such a strong impact on the top 500 ranked players is higher than some expected. Players in other regions will have to work on grinding up there if they want to even this out in the future!
