LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers told reporters at his Pro Day on Wednesday that he had a “great dinner” with the New York Giants, who could very well select him with the No. 6 overall choice in this year’s draft.
“I had a great dinner with those guys,” Nabers said, per ESPN’s Kat Terrell (h/t ESPN’s Jordan Raanan).
“Those are some funny guys to be around … I opened up my personality to those guys. It’s not hard to talk to them. They know me personally as a player.
“I heard Brian (Daboll), the head coach, he loves the way I play. It’s just great to be around the atmosphere with those guys again.”
Nabers is almost assuredly landing in the top 10. The question is where. Right now, the B/R NFL Scouting Department has the Giants passing over him at No. 6 and choosing Washington’s Rome Odunze instead. Nabers then went No. 7 to the Tennessee Titans.
The Giants appear to be moving on from starting quarterback Daniel Jones, so a quarterback could certainly be in play with the choice. But there’s elite wide receiver talent available in the top 10 in Marvin Harrison Jr., Nabers and Odunze, and that could be tough for the Giants to pass up.
We’ll find out soon enough where the Giants go with the first round of the draft set for Thursday, April 25 in Detroit.
