Man City face huge transfer setback
Manchester City travel to the south coast to face Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.Â
The reigning champions currently sit top of the table, a single point above Liverpool who were held to a 2-2 draw by Arsenal last weekend.
Pep Guardiola will be expecting to see his side cruise to victory over the Cherries, but the south coast side will undoubtedly provide a stern test for the Citizens.
In the meantime, it appears that City have been dealt something of a blow in their pursuit of a Premier League full-back.
According to GiveMeSport, City may have to pay more than other interested clubs if they wish to sign Tottenham Hotspur full-back Pedro Porro.
The report suggests that City are one of a number of clubs interested in the Spaniard, with Spanish giants Real Madrid also chasing him.
Porro, 25, departed City’s academy to join Portuguese side Sporting CP in 2022, having spent the previous two season on loan with the Lisbon side.
Porro is a target for both Man City and Real Madrid
He then joined Spurs on loan in January 2023, before making the move to London permanent last summer.
Porro has now made more than 60 appearances for the Lilywhites across all competitions, but he has emerged as a target for City as they search h for a long-term replacement for Kyle Walker.
The report suggests that Spurs have put an £80 million price tag on the right-back, but City may have to make a more lucrative offer than Real if they are to be successful in signing the player as Tottenham do not want to strengthen a domestic rival.
Porro’s £85,000-per-week contract is set to run until the end of the 2027/28 campaign, which puts Spurs in a relatively strong negotiating position if they do receive offers for the Spain international.
