Man City make huge transfer decision

Manchester City will hope to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table by beating Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

The Citizens travel to the south coast to face the Cherries with a one-point lead over second-placed Liverpool, who slipped up with a 2-2 draw against Arsenal last time out.

Pep Guardiola is hoping to guide his side to a record fifth consecutive English top flight title, although he has already been dealt a huge blow this term with influential midfielder Rodri set to miss the remainder of the current campaign due to injury.

Now, it appears that City are planning for life without another key midfielder.

According to Football Insider, City are accelerating plans to sign a high profile replacement for Belgian Kevin De Bruyne.

There 33-year-old is currently in the final year of his contract at The Etihad, and he has been heavily linked with a move away from Manchester over the past year or so.

De Bruyne was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia and has previously refused to rule out the possibility of a move to the Pro League.

De Bruyne’s current contract with City is set to expire this summer

He is also one of a number of high profile players to have been linked with a move to the newly formed MLS side San Diego FC.

The report claims that City are putting plans in place to make a marquee signing to minimise the impact of the Belgium international’s eventual departure.

De Bruyne joined City from German side Wolfsburg back in 2015, and he has since made 388 appearances for the Citizens across all competitions.

The former Chelsea man has scored 103 goals in that time, as well as registering 171 assists.

The midfielder has won now fewer than 18 trophies during his time in Manchester, including six Premier League titles and the Champions League.
