Man United star could leave club on loan in January
Manchester United came from behind to beat Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday.Â
The Red Devils have started the season in poor form and looked set to drop more points when Ethan Pinnock put the Bees ahead in first-half added time.
Alejandro Garnacho drew the hosts level shortly after the restart, before Rasmussen Hojlund’s first Premier League goal of the season completed the turnaround.
The win – just United’s third in the league this term – moves United up to 11th in the top flight table, and will slightly ease the pressure on manager Erik ten Hag.
Off the pitch, it appears that one of United’s fringe players could leave the club in January.
As per Football Insider, winger Antony could depart Old Trafford on loan when the transfer window reopens in the new year.
The 24-year-old has endured a tough time ever since joining United from Dutch side Ajax in 2022, and the report suggests that he could he is no longer part of Ten Hag’s plans.
Antony hasn’t started a single Premier League match so far this season
Antony had played under Ten Hag in Amsterdam but he has made just two Premier League appearances so far this season and the report claims that those in charge of the club are keen to offload his salary from the wage bill.
It is claimed that United are aware that interested clubs are unlikely to meet their asking price for the Brazilian, and a loan move is therefore far more likely to be agreed.
Despite this, any interested club would have to pay the majority of Antony’s wages for the duration of any loan spell, while United would also be open to the idea of including an option-to-buy clause in any deal.
Antony has played 86 times for the Red Devils since his move two years ago, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists.
