Manchester City willing to sell midfielder

Manchester City continued their perfect start to the new Premier League campaign with a 4-1 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday.

The Tractor Boys took a shock lead at The Etihad through new signing Sammie Szmodics, before Erling Haaland drew the hosts level from the penalty spot.

Kevn de Buryne then put City ahead, before Haaland added his second and City’s third inside 20 minutes.

In the closing stages, Haaland grabbed his third to complete his tenth hat-trick for the Citizens across all competitions.

The game also saw Ilkay Gundogan make his return to City, just a year after departing the club to join Barcelona.

Now, though, it appears that Gundogan’s return could prompt City to sell another of their midfielders.

As per Football Insider, City are willing to listen to offers for Matheus Nunes in the final days of the transfer window.

Nunes could leave City before the end of the current transfer window

The Portuguese joined the Premier League champions from Wolves last summer but failed to establish himself as a regular starter for Guardiola’s side during his debut season in Manchester.

The 25-year-old made 31 appearances across all competitions last season, providing five assists, but started just nine of City’s 38 Premier League games.

It is claimed that City will demand a fee in the region of £40 million for Nunes, who cost the club £53 million just 12 monthd ago.

The Portugal international also has four years remaining on his current contract with the club, which could put the league champions in a commanding position during potential negotiations.

It has been rumoured that Nunes may have attracted interest from clubs in the Saudi Arabian Pro League, with City prepared to sell the player before the window slams shut at the end of the month.
