Manchester United vs Liverpool predictions
Liverpool are aiming to give Jurgen Klopp the best possible send-off as he gets set to depart the club this summer.
The long-serving manager has already got one trophy in the bag this season after overseeing that dramatic EFL Cup final victory over Chelsea last month.
Liverpool are in a strong position in three other competitions. Following a 1-1 draw with Manchester City last weekend, they are level on points with Arsenal at the top of the Premier League. On Thursday they advanced to the quarter-finals of the Europa League by completing the job against Sparta Prague.
Now comes the FA Cup. The Reds have already eliminated Arsenal, Norwich City and Southampton in prior rounds, but now they must emerge triumphant at Old Trafford, the home of their arch-rivals.
There is no doubt that the Premier League title is Klopp’s priority, but it would be interesting to know which tournament he would sacrifice first.Â
On balance, it would probably be this one. Klopp has never won the Europa League before and there would be a neat symmetry to lifting that trophy given he lost in the final in his debut season at Anfield.
Yet a club of Liverpool’s size is obliged to take an FA Cup quarter-final seriously. Partly through necessity but partly by choice, Klopp selected a largely second-stride against Southampton in the fifth round. That will not be possible against Manchester United.
The Old Trafford faithful would love nothing more than to see their side throw a spanner in the works of Liverpool’s quadruple dream.Â
However, Erik ten Hag could do with a victory for his own selfish reasons. The manager’s future is uncertain and a trophyless season would count against him, especially if United also fail to qualify for the Champions League.
The stakes are high for Sunday’s showdown.

Manchester United vs Liverpool betting tips
A place in the FA Cup semi-finals awaits the winner of Manchester United vs Liverpool this weekend.
Manchester United or draw – 10/11 (Paddy Power)
Liverpool are a better team than Manchester United; of that there is no doubt. The Reds deserve to be favourites for Sunday’s match. Yet from a betting perspective, we recommend tipping a positive result for Manchester United.
Remember, this selection is not incompatible with Liverpool going through. They could draw in 90 minutes and then triumph in extra time or on penalties.Â
Liverpool have expended a great deal of mental and physical energy in recent weeks. There was the cup final against Chelsea and the pulsating draw with Manchester City last weekend.

They have had a Europa League double-header against Sparta Prague to contend with too. The second leg took place on Thursday night while Manchester United had their feet up.
Ten Hag’s side will not be short of motivation here. The Dutchman’s first victory in his current job came against Liverpool and another one here would boost his position.
Liverpool are still missing several players ahead of this match. And for all their success in recent years, the Reds have still won only two of their last 11 trips to Old Trafford.

Draw at 30 minutes – 5/6 (Paddy Power)
The pause for international games is coming at a good time for Liverpool, who will be keen to get as many players back fit as possible over the next fortnight or so.
Their considerable efforts of late mean they may struggle to start this game quickly, particularly with the Old Trafford crowd roaring Manchester United on.Â
It may surprise some to learn that Liverpool have only scored nine goals in the first 30 minutes of Premier League matches this term. That is the same number as relegation-threatened Luton Town and goal-shy Everton.Â
Contrary to earlier Liverpool teams under Klopp, the current iteration can take a while to get going.
The same is true for Manchester United, who have the fourth-worst first-half home record in England’s top flight.
âš˝ Back a draw at 30 minutes at 5/6 with Paddy Power âš˝
Rasmus Hojlund to score any time – 11/5 (Paddy Power)
Manchester United hope to have Rasmus Hojlund available again this weekend after a spell on the sidelines.
At the time of writing his availability has not been confirmed, but the striker’s boss at international level provided positive news this week.
“Rasmus will play on Sunday against Liverpool and must go through the match well,” said Denmark head coach Kasper Hjulmand, who hopes to be reunited with the forward during the international break.
United are a better team with Hojlund in it. He gives them a focal presence up front and puts himself about up against opposition centre-backs.
The Dane was in fantastic form before his untimely injury. He has scored eight goals in his last eight appearances and found the back of the net in six successive games.
Provided he features as expected, Hojlund can make an impact in this one.
âš˝ Tip Rasmus Hojlund to score any time at 11/5 with Paddy Power âš˝
