March Madness live bracket 2024: Updated NCAA field of 68, seeds, snubs revealed on Selection Sunday

The automatic bids are just about finalized, but 36 teams enter Sunday’s selection show still awaiting their fate as the 2024 March Madness bracket is revealed.

Some of those teams already know they are destined to be included. The only question is where they will fall. Others, including Indiana State, are still waiting patiently right along the cut line to see if they will have a chance to chase their dreams.

The tournament begins Tuesday with the First Four before the first round starts on Thursday, but the dream begins for 68 teams on Sunday. All 68 teams selected will go into the week with hope, and last year’s first-round upsets by Fairleigh Dickinson, Princeton and Furman are just three examples of why.

Other teams will walk away from Sunday night disappointed. There is typically one surprise exclusion each year — last year’s being Rutgers — and at least one team that went into conference championship week feeling confident about their chances will likely have a bone to pick with the selection committee when the reveal is done.

NCAA live bracket updates from Selection Sunday

4:25 p.m.: It’s a tight battle in the Big Ten championship at halftime. Illinois holds a 41-40 lead over Wisconsin at the break with Terrence Shannon Jr. scoring 15. AJ Storr leads Wisconsin with 16 points.

4:07 p.m.: UAB is 20 minutes away from punching its ticket to the NCAA Tournament. The Blazers lead Temple 43-27 at halftime in the AAC Championship. Alejandro Vasquez leads all scorers with 21 points for the Blazers.

3:20 p.m.: Auburn is in! The Tigers were always going to be a force come Selection Sunday. But after throttling the Gators in the SEC Championship, their place among the nation’s best teams has been cemented. Auburn looks destined for a top-three seed in the tourney. Bruce Pearl’s squad should be a formidable force come tournament time, especially led by All-SEC Second Teamer Johni Broome.

3:15 p.m.: Duquesne is dancing! The Dukes are back in the NCAA tournament, having captured A-10 gold after defeating VCU, 57-51. It was a game of precious few chances and a great many memories, including a minutes-long delay after streamers descended onto the floor prematurely.

With their victory, the Duke notched their first appearance in the Big Dance since 1977. Not too shabby for the Pittsburgh-based school.

2:00 p.m.: Welp…the Bears found themselves on the wrong ending of a memorable Ivy League finish. Yale captured the conference title in dramatic fashion, rallying from six points down in the game’s final minute to punch their ticket to March Madness. The Bulldogs sealed their place in the Big Dance with a kiss: Matt Knowling dropped a buzzer-beater into the basket to shatter Brown fans’ hearts.

1:50 p.m.: Brown on the precipice of history. The Bears are minutes away from vanquishing Yale to secure their third-ever tournament appearance. What a difference a month makes for the Ivy League minnows, who found themselves fixed at the bottom of the conference standings on Feb. 16. Brown is up three with three minutes left.

1:30 p.m.: Duquesne in complete control of its Atlantic 10 title contest between VCU. The Dukes have raced out to a 13 point lead partway through the first half. Plenty of time left for the Rams to respond. But if it’s a golden ticket that they desire, they’ll need to be much better than they have been thus far.

1:15 p.m.: A few tournament-altering injuries have already taken place, most notably to Florida youngster Micah Handlogten, who appeared to suffer a severe leg injury in the Gators’ SEC Championship battle with Auburn. Could have some major implications on Florida’s quest for a title; Handlogten averaged 5.5 points and 7.1 rebounds in 31 starts this year, his first since transferring from Marshall.

12:00 p.m.: Patriot League clash between Boston and Holy Cross starting up right now. We’ll figure out which school will the conference be sending to the Big Dance in just a few hours.
