In front of 53,000+ fans, All Elite Wrestling delivered one of the best shows in the company’s history. It felt big and delivered even bigger.
AEW All In: London 2024 was a spectacular night that made multiple stars and highlighted what AEW most promises: the greatest wrestling in the world.
Bryan Danielson and Mariah May made the most of their Owen Hart Foundation Tournament wins to become the top champions in AEW.
Will Ospreay and Pac recaptured gold in front of a lively British crowd, welcoming their success.
However, for each victory, someone must fall short. Chris Jericho barely got a reaction as he dropped the FTW Championship to Hook. The Patriarchy lost the Trios Championships to a thrown-together trio.
It was a wild night with serious winners but also some certain losers.
Winner: Jamie Hayter1 of 13
Jamie Hayter lost out on competing in Wembley Stadium in 2023 due to injury, and she looked like to miss the event in 2024 as well.
However, a surprise return at All In: London promised that Hayter is back and ready to take over the women’s division all over again.
Hayter’s run as AEW women’s world champion was the best run with the championship up to that point. She was elevating a division that was struggling.
She returns to a division that is hotter than it has ever been. She took out Saraya in Wembley as the first step in her revenge, but the big matches are still to come.
She and Toni Storm have unfinished business. Mariah May is holding her title. Mercedes MonĂ© is making some major claims about her place atop the women’s division.
With Hayter hopefully finally completely healthy again, she should be ready to go on the biggest run of her career.
Winner: Pac2 of 13
Pac wanted his Wembley moment more than just about anyone else. He lost out on that chance in 2023 due to injury.
He looked poised to miss 2024. His clearest avenue to All In: London was in a trio, but with the Lucha Brothers on their way out of AEW, Death Triangle was no longer an option.
It looks like Pac has found a new group, seemingly joining Blackpool Combat Club by aligning with Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta. This trio was solidified by winning the AEW Trios Championships.
Even if this title reign does not last long with multiple hungry trios waiting to challenge between The Patriarchy, House of Black, Bang Bang Gang and more, this moment will last forever in Pac’s career.
Winner: Mariah May (and Toni Storm)3 of 13
On November 8, 2023, Mariah May made her AEW debut, declaring her admiration for Toni Storm. This began the greatest women’s story that AEW has ever told.
It all culminated on August 25, 2024 in Wembley Stadium where May brought the 281-day reign of Storm as AEW women’s world champion to an end.
This incredible story built over months to a truly shocking heel turn that set the stage for a match at All In that stands as one of AEW’s greatest women’s matches of all time.
This well-paced spectacle battle was just wild enough to tell the story without going over the top, allowing May to only build more heat with the Wembley crowd throughout.
May and Storm told this story together, ending with May standing atop the entire AEW women’s division. It is exciting to even start to speculate on the future of May.
Loser: Chris Jericho4 of 13
Chris Jericho has mostly lost the interest of the AEW faithful. Even if he does a fine job with The Learning Tree gimmick, he is still not an interesting enough in-ring worker in 2024 on a stacked roster.
He put over Hook big and finally ended his FTW Championship reign of terror. It should have been a major moment, but the crowd only cared about Big Bill and Taz.
Even The Handsome Devil could not get the crowd truly on his side in this moment. He will need a strong rebuild once he has escaped The Jericho Vortex.
Meanwhile, it is hard to figure out what can get The Learning Tree back in the AEW fans’ good graces. He is putting over young talent but still getting indifferent reactions.
Winners: Grizzled Young Veterans5 of 13
The Young Bucks, FTR and The Acclaimed are the top three tag teams in AEW, but another match between these teams was hardly exciting on paper.
While all three teams worked hard to deliver a fun match, the stars of the moment were Zack Gibson and James Drake.
While Tony Khan has not confirmed it yet, it looks like The Grizzled Young Veterans have officially signed with AEW.
This is a huge signing that adds a fresh element to a tag team division that needed a spark.
Grizzled Young Veterans vs. FTR, Young Bucks, Acclaimed and so many more is an exciting prospect for months and years to come.
Winner: Nigel McGuinness6 of 13
The Casino Gauntlet was an incredible moment, highlighted by wild surprises, but nothing was quite as special to see as Nigel McGuinness back in a wrestling ring.
Nigel look phenomenal in a spot that he was never supposed to get back.after his retirement in 2011.
He stood toe-to-toe with some of the best wrestlers in the world. He and Zack Sabre Jr. gave the hint of what could be a special match with McGuinness is ready for more.
He certainly looked like he could have done so much more. Hopefully, this is not the last time that McGuinness is competing in an AEW ring.
Winner: Christian Cage7 of 13
Christian Cage did everything in his power to take the Trios Championships. He injured the top teams to get the easiest avenue. He tried to avoid any challengers at All In: London.
All of that led to just over a month holding the titles before losing them to Pac, Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta, who were teaming for just the second time.
However, The Patriarch had a greater plan. He found his way into the Casino Gauntlet match and got some major help from Killswitch to earn a guaranteed world title match.
It looked like The Patriarchy might be falling apart at the start of the program. Instead, Christian walked out with what he truly wanted, a world title match at the time of his choosing.
There were plenty of exciting options in the Gauntlet to take the win, and others were more obviously exciting. However, AEW’s commitment to Christian has paid off many times. Something special is certainly coming.
Loser: Hangman Adam Page8 of 13
No one promised more in the Casino Gauntlet match than Hangman Adam Page. He told the world that he would win that match, and he would not let anyone get in his way.
However, the numbers were too difficult to manage for The Cowboy, who did not have anyone to help him in a match where he needed it.
The closest he had to an ally was Kazuchika Okada, and The Rainmaker broke up the pinfall that would have sealed Hangman’s victory.
At this point, The Cowboy is falling to the back of the line despite so many fans clambering for the next chapter in Swerve Strickland vs. Hangman.
It should still happen for The Cowboy at some point, but Hangman is getting to his lowest point in AEW with no end to his fall in sight.
At least he got to see Swerve lose the AEW World Championship.
Winner: Will Ospreay/Loser: MJF9 of 13
Will Ospreay and MJF promised to make statements at All In:London that would not be forgotten. Only one man walked out victorious.
The Aerial Assassin showed out and survived the dirtiest tactics in The American Hero’s arsenal to bring back prestige to the International Championship.
MJF turned his back on the fans and everything he said he stood for to steal the gold from Ospreay. He took out Daniel Garcia, who made him pay for it on the biggest stage.
One year after MJF walked out in the main event as the most beloved man in AEW, he walked out a loser without a single fan left.
While this was a special moment for Ospreay, who further solidified his claim as the greatest wrestler in the world, it may have been just as debilitating for MJF. What was it all for?
Loser: Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.10 of 13
Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. is the original top name in the AEW women’s division. When AEW had no one else stepping up, The Doctor was showing out. Her rivalry with Thunder Rosa remains legendary.
However, the women’s division may have moved past Baker as a true top star. With names like Mariah May, Toni Storm, Mercedes MonĂ©, Jamie Hayter and more defining the top of the scene, The Doctor cannot keep up.
While Moné vs. Baker was solid, it was heavily reliant on The CEO to carry the action. Perhaps The Doctor can step up with more time back in the ring, but in this big moment, she looked out of her depth.
Thunder Rosa, Deonna Purrazzo, a rematch with Hikaru Shida and more are exciting matches for Moné on the horizon, so Baker needs to step back and find herself in the ring if she wants to get back to the gold.
Winner: Jack Perry11 of 13
One year ago, the most important night in AEW’s history was overshadowed by a backstage fight between CM Punk and Jack Perry.
While AEW made a clear statement on who was at fault at the time by firing The Best in the World, it was emphasized by the most one-sided bout of the night.
Jack Perry crushed Allin, beating him down, throwing him in a body bag, and closing the coffin lid on him.
This is a match type that Allin had not lost in his career, so this win solidified the TNT Championship reign of Perry, who needed it after only capturing the gold in a ladder match.
He looks like a made man, and it is likely he will be TNT champion for a long time to come, solidifying his claim as one of the Pillars of AEW.
Winner: Bryan Danielson12 of 13
Bryan Danielson has never been allowed to be “the man” in a major televised wrestling company.
Even in his time in WWE, the company struggled against making him the man, and a bad bump after winning the WWE Championship ended that run early, forcing him to retire.
Unfortunately, by the time he came to AEW, The American Dragon was already winding down his career, but he has still done more than enough to earn a run as the man at the top.
He finally is on top of the business again and gets a chance to run as the man at the top of the card. He will headline cards and stand at the head of AEW posters for the entirety of his AEW World Championship reign.
This was a special tribute to a man that is arguably the greatest in-ring performer in wrestling history, who pulled out one of his all-time best performances at Wembley Stadium.
Hopefully, this final ride for Danielson as AEW world champion will be special and highlight the American Dragon at his best.
Loser: Swerve Strickland13 of 13
When Swerve Strickland captured the AEW World Championship at Dynasty, it felt like a necessary moment, a culmination of all of The Mogul’s great work to elevate himself.
However, many worried if AEW would truly commit to him as the man. Those concerns were assuaged time and again with presentation and performance.
By the time that Swerve walked out in Wembley Stadium, he was a made man. He is a main event star that just re-signed with AEW for major money.
Still, on the grandest stage of them all, he was the villain, not the hero. While he was testing Bryan Danielson and pushing him to his limit, the story was all about The American Dragon.
This was a tough loss for Swerve, and it will take him time to regroup.
He will get back to the top prize in AEW, but how long will it take? Hopefully, by the time WrestleDream arrives in Swerve’s home of Tacoma, WA, Swerve will be back on top or capturing that gold again.
