Marvel Goes After Captain America: Brave New World Leaker in Instagram Subpoena

Marvel Studios has filed a subpoena with Instagram to learn the identity of the CanWeGetSomeToast account, which has repeatedly leaked private information about films and TV shows including the upcoming Captain America: Brave New World.

As reported by Torrent Freak, Marvel’s subpoena follows an Instagram Story post from CanWeGetSomeToast which allegedly contained leaked footage of the upcoming film. The subpoena was filed with the Northern District of California court after the leak was discovered by a senior Disney paralegal.

It seeks as much information as possible surrounding the CanWeGetSomeToast account, including the names, physical addresses, IP addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and payment account information of anyone associated with the it.

Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson is the new Captain America.A supporting declaration from Marvel Studios’ VP of global security and content protection said CanWeGetSomeToast “published a copyrighted image from an upcoming Marvel Studios motion picture, Captain America: Brave New World, without authorization” and is therefore in breach of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Captain America: Brave New World premieres February 14, 2024 as the fourth film in the franchise but the first starring Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson as the titular superhero.

The movie has struggled with leaks elsewhere too, as a McDonald’s poster recently revealed the first look at the new Falcon and a line of Happy Meal toys leaked another major character.

Footage debuted (officially) at CinemaCon 2024 showed Mackie and Harrison’s Ford Thatddeus Ross looking to rebuild the Avengers, though plot details are largely under wraps otherwise.
