The 1975’s Matty Healy has dated several A-listers over the years.

Healy reconnected with Taylor Swift following her April 2023 split from Joe Alwyn, nine years after the singers were initially linked in 2014.

“They’re looking to give things a second chance,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2023 of Healy and Swift. The songwriters “run in the same circle of friends” and are “having a good time reconnecting again,” the insider added. One month later, however, Us confirmed that the twosome went their separate ways.

Healy and Swift were previously linked in 2014 after Swift attended several The 1975 shows. Healy, for his part, faced backlash after making comments about Swift — and their “flirtation” — that fans found misogynistic.

Halsey

The musician was linked to Halsey in 2015 after she went to a 1975 concert. Of the relationship rumors, Halsey told Billboard in August of that year: “We’re both attracted to characters, and we saw that in each other. I spent a lot of time watching him and he spent a lot of time loving being watched. But if you think he’s the first red-wine-drinking, pretty-boy rocker in skinny jeans I’ve been associated with, you’re out of your f—king mind.”

Fans have theorized that Halsey sings about their rumored romance with Healy on “Colors,” from their 2015 album Badlands. “Your little brother never tells you but he loves you so / You said your mother only smiled on her TV show,” Halsey croons on the track, which fans believe is a reference to Healy’s mom, Denise Welch, who is a talk show host on Britain’s Loose Women, as well as his younger brother, Louis.

Halsey continues: “You’re only happy when your sorry head is filled with dope / I hope you make it to the day you’re 28 years old.” Healy, who was 26 at the time of the song’s release, has been open about his past battle with heroin addiction.

Prior to her romance with Liam Hemsworth, Healy reportedly dated Brooks for four years from 2015 to 2019.

One month after their cozy outing at RuPaul’s DragCon UK in January 2020, Healy shared a photo with the “Cellophane” singer via Instagram. While the twosome never publicly addressed their supposed romance, they reportedly called it quits after two years together.

After his initial “flirtation” with Swift made headlines in 2014, Healy told Q magazine two years later that he didn’t want to be known as “Taylor Swift’s boyfriend” in the media, calling the idea “emasculating.”

He later clarified the remarks to Elle.

“I was for a very short time immersed in a celebrity world that I found confusing and scary. At that time, I had fears of being ‘somebody’s boyfriend’ … before even being recognized for my music or presence as a person in my own right,” he explained.

Nothing came of Swift and Healy’s relationship — until they were spotted together after Swift’s split from Alwyn in April 2023.

“They’re looking to give things a second chance,” a source exclusively told Us in May 2023 about the couple, who were “having a good time reconnecting again.”

The duo were spotted holding hands in New York City and Healy attended multiple shows on Swift’s 2023 Eras Tour. The twosome called it quits one month later, with a source telling Us, “They had fun together, but it was never serious.”

Gabriette Bechtel

Healy was spotted kissing and holding hands with the model in New York City in September 2023, and the pair have been going strong ever since. In February 2024, Healy took Bechtel to see his mom perform in the play The Gap in Manchester. The duo were seen arriving at the theater together dressed in all black, per photos obtained by the Daily Mail.

Healy and Bechtel sparked engagement rumors in June 2024 after she posted a photo that featured a black diamond ring on her left hand. Healy’s mom confirmed their engagement on her talk show that same month.
