Mauricio Pochettino leaves Chelsea
Mauricio Pochettino has left Chelsea after just one season in charge of the club.Â
The Blues announced on Tuesday evening that they had parted ways with the Argentine by mutual consent.
Pochettino took charge of the West London club last summer following the departure of interim boss Frank Lampard at the end of the 2022/23 campaign, but he endured a difficult season in the capital.
The former Tottenham Hotspur boss guided Chelsea to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League table, thanks in part to a run of five consecutive victories at the end of the campaign.
Pochettino’s final game in charge of the club was a 2-1 win over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

In total, he won 18 of his 38 league games in charge, losing 11.
The Argentinian also guided Chelsea to the Carabao Cup final, losing to Liverpool, and saw his side dominate Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-finals before eventually losing to the holders.
Pochettino’s contract had been set to run for one more season, but an end-of-season review had always been planned for this week and the two parties have decided to go their separate ways.
Since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Co took charge of the club in 2022, no fewer than five managers have taken charge of the Blues on an interim or permanent basis.
The American owners will now begin the search for Pochettino’s successor, with former Brighton and Hove Albion boss Roberto De Zerbi and Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna touted as early favourites for the role.
