‘Maybe see you next year’… Tom Aspinall sends a message to Alex Pereira amid fantasy fight rumors

Following his successful interim title defense against Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304, Tom Aspinall made it clear that his next fight will be for the undisputed title.

The current undisputed heavyweight champion, Jon Jones, is rumored to be defending his strap against Stipe Miocic in November, and Tom Aspinall wants to be backup for that fight, in case anything happens.

A large portion of the UFC fanbase, though, is still hopeful that Aspinall’s next fight could come against the current light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira after the Brazilian hinted at another move up in weight.

With that, people began to speculate that the 37-year-old champion could be making his move up to heavyweight sooner than expected, with the consensus being that he would take on Aspinall for the interim title.

Despite that, the Brit has come out and once again remained adamant that he will not defend his interim title for a second time, and his next fight will be for the undisputed title.

Ahead of his likely fight against ‘Bones’ in November, Dana White has recently revealed that Miocic will ‘100%’ retire following that fight, with him still unsure whether Jones will also bid farewell.

“The guy is a superstar in the sport,” Aspinall said about Pereira in a video on his YouTube channel.

“Do whatever you want but if we meet for sure I think we’re both on the same page it’s gonna be for an undisputed heavyweight title so maybe see you next year at some point.

“As I say, I’ve got a lot of respect for Alex Pereira and what he’s done in the sport in a short amount of time but if we’re gonna make it happen it’s gonna be for the undisputed title so, see you there,” Aspinall added.

Before Aspinall beat Curtis Blaydes, Jones was seemingly under the impression that fighting him does nothing for his legacy, and he was heavily criticized by the fanbase for his ludicrous take.

Following the Brit’s hugely impressive performance over the dangerous ‘Razor’ Blaydes, Jones took to X where he asked the fans to send him text messages and calls, convincing him to fight Aspinall.

Of course, the mobile number that he shared on his post may not even be his, which makes the situation a relatively weird one, but the 37-year-old is finally recognizing who many see as the real heavyweight champion.
