In February, Megan Thee Stallion took shots at Nicki Minaj on âHISSâ â and earned her first solo Hot 100 No. 1 in the process. The record prompted the New York rapper to respond with âBig Foot.â Aside from a few subliminal shots, the two have mostly let the beef rest where it stands.
On Wednesday (Sept. 4), during an interview with Billboard, Megan shared that making amends isnât on the table, mainly because she has no idea why theyâre even feuding. She told the publication, âI still, to this day, donât know what the problem is. I donât even know what could be reconciled because I, to this day, donât know what the problem is.â
In 2019, the artists linked up for âHot Girl Summer,â which was RIAA-certified platinum that same year. Its accompanying visuals have over 135 million YouTube views to date, while the song itself peaked at No. 11 on the Hot 100. Many speculated that Minaj fell out with Megan after her 2020 collaboration with Cardi B on âWAP.â
However, the Texas star shut down those rumors during a chat with Chicagoâs 107.5 WGCI FM: âMe and Nicki, our relationship hasnât changed since we did âHot Girl Summer.’ I feel like women, we really do know how to coexist, and we really do know how to not be catty. So, despite popular Internet opinion, thatâs really not the case.â
Elsewhere in her Billboard cover story, Megan opened up about her self-titled LP, which was released in June. âWith this album, I wanted to show people my personal interests and thoughts,â she explained. âI wanted to touch on my love for all things anime, all things Southern, how much I like to have fun, and I wanted to be myself. I feel like I did that.â
MEGAN consisted of 18 tracks, including the Yuki Chiba-assisted âMamushi,â âCobra,â âB.A.S.â featuring Kyle Richh and âPaper Together.â Regarding the last-mentioned track, which featured posthumous bars from UGKâs Pimp C, the Grammy Award winner stated, âTo have my voice on a song with my favorite rapper ever, an unreleased verse? Motherf**kers ainât walking around with Pimp C verses. And I got blessed with one.â
