Meghan and Harry’s Daughter Lilibet Diana Celebrated Her Birthday With Friends
Princess Lilibet, the daughter of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, turned three on Tuesday, but according to People, the family already celebrated the big day over the weekend. The magazine reports that Meghan and Harry held a small party for friends, family, and a few of Lili’s friends at their home in Montecito, California.
Lilibet Diana was born in June 2021, over a year after her parents left their roles as working royals and moved to the Los Angeles area, and was named after her late great-grandmother’s childhood nickname and Harry’s late mother. Unlike her older brother, Prince Archie, who was the subject of a few official photos in his early months, Lili’s life so far has been more private. The public first got a glimpse of her in her parents’ 2021 Christmas card, and in 2022, photographer Misan Harriman released a portrait taken at her first birthday party in Windsor.
The three-year-old didn’t accompany her parents on their recent trip to Nigeria, where they met with wounded veterans and spoke at a mental health summit for teenagers, but Meghan did mention her daughter during the trip. She told a small group of students at the Lightway Academy that her daughter’s “favorite class” is “singing and dancing.” In her speech for the summit, the duchess mentioned an anecdote about Lili looking into her eyes and saying something surprisingly profound.
“Our daughter, Lili — she’s much, much tinier than you guys. She’s about to turn 3. A few weeks ago, she looked at me and she would just see the reflection in my eyes. And she [says] ‘Mama, I see me in you,’” Meghan said. “Now, she was talking really, literally. But I hung onto those words in a very different way,” she added. “And I thought, yes, I do see me in you, and you see me in you, but as I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well.”
