Meghann Fahy Found a Classy Way to Make Lingerie Red-Carpet Appropriate

The Bold Type breakout Meghann Fahy wore the sexiest lace black dress to the premiere of her new Netflix mystery limited series The Perfect Couple, yet somehow she made it SFW. Nicely done.

We’re in a very pro-nudity era in Hollywood, as stars are wearing less and less on both the red carpet and on the street. This is not moralizing or panic, just a genuine observation: Fahy’s Victoria Beckham ensemble (which might be a skirt over a bodysuit?) could, with different styling, be lingerie.

But that’s what’s genius about how she wore it. Instead of going for a hot and heavy bombshell look with big hair and red lips, Fahy, to borrow a phrase we’re already over, is demure. A classy bun, tasteful diamond studs and a nude lip give her a kind of Upper East Side vibe that balances out the sheer.

Fahy also used paneling and pasties to make sure she wasn’t showing anything censorable. Leaving a little to the imagination, if you will.

Clearly, Meghann Fahy is more comfortable than ever taking risks with her look and her roles, and she reflected on her maturation within the industry during a 2022 interview with Glamour. At the time, she’d just wrapped The White Lotus, and said, “The first time I was ever on a set was for Gossip Girl, and I didn’t know anything! Nobody told me what anything meant, and there’s all this lingo that I’ve never heard, and I don’t know what the camera’s doing, and it was really overwhelming and scary. So for me to now find myself on a set and not feel like that anymore, it’s nice. It’s a nice feeling.”

She added, “And The White Lotus for me felt like a new moment. I felt sort of like a woman in a way that I hadn’t before.” A woman indeed.
