Met Gala 2024: How to Watch the Red Carpet Livestream

If you’re wondering how to watch the 2024 Met Gala, you’re in luck: For the fourth year in a row, Vogue will host the official Met Gala red-carpet livestream on its website, across its digital platforms, and right here on Glamour (yep, the page you’re already on) on Monday, May 6. This will give viewers an inside look at one of the most extravagant—and star-studded—events of the year.

The event, as always, will take place in New York City at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. It will celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”

What time does the livestream start?The 2024 Met Gala livestream will begin at 6 p.m. Eastern.

Who’s hosting the livestream?The 2024 Met Gala livestream will once again be hosted by actor and producer La La Anthony, joined by Game of Thrones actor Gwendoline Christie and model Ashley Graham. Internet multihyphenate Emma Chamberlain will also return as Vogue’s special correspondent.

What’s the 2024 Met Gala theme?The 2024 Met Gala will celebrate the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” and the official dress code is The Garden of Time. As always, attendees interpret each year’s theme differently, so expect to see looks that are literal and others that are purely conceptual. The event’s curators told Vogue that the exhibition will be shaped around three main zones—Land, Sea, and Sky—that pay tribute to the natural world.

The exhibit will feature approximately 250 rare items from the Costume Institute’s permanent collection that span more than 400 years of fashion history, including designs by some of the world’s most revered fashion visionaries and houses, including Dior, Schiaparelli, Givenchy, and more. According to Vogue, some of the garments are too fragile to wear—including a Charles Frederick Worth ball gown from 1877—and will be displayed via video animation, light projection, AI, CGI, and other forms of sensory stimulation.

Who are the 2024 Met Gala co-chairs?In addition to Vogue global editorial director Anna Wintour, who is also chief content officer of Condé Nast, this year’s celebrity cochairs are multihyphenate Jennifer Lopez, actor Zendaya, musician Bad Bunny, and actor Chris Hemsworth.

What even is the Met Gala?Organized and presided over by Wintour since 1995, the Met Gala has become a truly iconic yearly celebration of high fashion (it’s known colloquially as the Oscars of Fashion.) A fundraiser for The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, it’s usually timed to mark the opening of its annual fashion exhibition in May of every year. The one exception was in 2021, when the gala was held in September due to COVID-19 restrictions. The event raises eight-figure sums and invites around 600 of world’s most famous actors, models, designers, captains of industry, editors, and generally some of the world’s most highly influential and powerful people.

Who is expected to attend the 2024 Met Gala?While the 2024 guest list isn’t made public, everyone from Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé and Solange Knowles, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Jared Leto, Lizzo, Hailey Bieber, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss, Anne Hathaway, Jenna Lyons, Tom Brady, and Blake Lively have attended in years past. As always, designers attended with famous muses. Of course, the big question this year is whether Taylor Swift will attend the 2024 Met Gala with boyfriend Travis Kelce after being absent from the iconic event for right years.
