Fashion’s favorite spectator sport is the Met Gala. The guests are the “players” whose “stats” are times attended and what they wore. I want to believe that having this information organized and readily at hand is not just an archivist’s dream, but something that will appeal to all fashion fans. Here you’ll find Christy Turlington’s first known Met attendance, in 1992, looking like a latter day Holly Golightly in a black Versace column with pearls around her neck; Linda Evangelista in Prada, naturally, at the 2012 “Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations” gala; and Naomi Campbell on the 2017 red carpet in the Azzedine Alaïa dress she wore down the designer’s runway.
Every weekday until the First Monday in May we’ll be adding to this Met Modelpalooza, so watch this space.
