Microsoft Reiterates It’s the Top Publisher on PS5 in Earnings Call

No real surprises

Image: Push SquareAs we reported earlier this week, six of the top ten PS5 games sold in Q2 2025 were published by Microsoft.

With the exception of Forza Horizon 5, however – which has sold remarkably well on Sony’s system – the remaining five titles that topped the list were made by Bethesda or Activision – two historically multiformat firms, bought out by the Redmond giant for the best part of $80 billion.

It’s not a massive surprise that Microsoft’s humongous video game division is finding success on PS5, then – but it seems like both parties are satisfied with the results.

During an earnings call earlier today – in which the trillion dollar titan announced a 22% decline in Xbox hardware sales year-over-year – CEO Satya Nadella reiterated that his company was once again the best-selling publisher on PlayStation.

To be honest, this situation is unlikely to change much in the short-term. Later this year the company will release Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 and Gears of War Reloaded, both of which are expected to sell extremely well on the PS5. It’s also got Ninja Gaiden 4 and The Outer Worlds 2 in the pipeline.

And there have been rumours that even more ports could be announced for Sony’s system, with the likes of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Killer Instinct, and many more all touted.
