Mike Tyson and Jake Paul have officially weighed in before their highly anticipated boxing match, but it’s the slap heard around the world that has everyone talking.

The 58-year-old Tyson, once the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world from 1987-1990, weighed in at 228.4 pounds. The 27-year-old Paul, a social media star who’s won 10 of 11 professional boxing matches, weighed in at 227.2 pounds.

Combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani tried to get word with both fighters afterward (25-second mark).

All Tyson said was “the talk is over” before walking off stage. Helwani soon gave his first-hand insight.

Ariel Helwani @arielhelwaniHoly shit. I can confidently say I’ve never seen that look on a fighter’s face before.

Paul did a little meditation as Tyson was being pulled away.

However, Paul did take great offense to the slap. He said it didn’t physically affect him but that the fight was personal, to the point where he screamed that Tyson “must die” now in the ring.

Jake Paul @jakepaulThis is a pinch me moment. I got slapped by Mike Tyson 🤗

Post weigh-in and slap, fans and analysts offered their reactions to Tyson vs. Paul, which was the last major event for the fighters this week before they face off Friday.

ThatBronzeGirl @ThatBronzeGirlSome people are saying that Mike Tyson slapping Jake Paul during the weigh in is scripted. That the whole fight is scripted. But even if he loses, Tyson wins because name a sweeter gig than getting paid to slap Jake Paul.

andrew chibz @AndrewChibzThat’s just a slap. Imagine a punch from Tyson https://t.co/hr4KfXfM6u

Carolina Teague @CTtheMicSlayerSuper fraudulent, Tyson can be 75, and slap the daylights out of all of us lol https://t.co/XKy9RkEwJI

Chester #OnePride @DalskicsThere is absolutely zero chance that the Tyson slap wasn’t just scripted by the team to generate “hype” for a 27 year old vs. a 58 year old man

White Gold @DonaldDarko13Either that Tyson slap was fake or his hits don’t even have any power anymore 😢..I hope he don’t get knocked out the ring

Wavy 🇨🇦 🇵🇸 @wavyamarIf Jake Paul can’t dodge a slap from Tyson what makes you think he dodge his Punch?! I CAN’T WAIT LOL

Cal @cal_approvedI didn’t even see a reason for that slap from Tyson… Maybe it was just part of the script 🤷🏾‍♂️

Ace Lucero Tech @AceLuceroTechMike Tyson just slapped Jake Paul during the weigh-in.

A slap that was well deserved. A slap that the internet generation desperately deserves.

To much respect from the kid Jake Paul.

Thursday’s weigh-in took place at Toyota Music Factory in Irving, Texas. It also featured weigh-ins from the six other fights on the card, including champion Katie Taylor defending her undisputed women’s super-lightweight titles in a rematch against Amanda Serrano.

But now all that’s left is the boxing.

Tyson won 50 professional matches during his 20-year career and once stood 37-0 with 33 knockouts. He has not fought professionally since 2005.

Paul, who has seven knockouts, has notched some wins over big names, including ex-MMA stars Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz and Tyron Woodley (twice).

They’ll face each other to cap the main card, which starts at 8 p.m. ET on Friday at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.
