The New York Yankees are reportedly open to including top prospect Spencer Jones in a potential trade package for a pair of aces.

Per USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, New York is “willing to include” Jones in a deal for Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet or Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal.

According to Nightengale, Chicago is holding out for a bigger package from either the Yankees or another team. He also noted that the Tigers have been in talks with the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers.

According to Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter, Jones is the second-best prospect in the Yankees system and the No. 36 overall prospect among all teams. The 23-year-old was drafted by New York with the 25th overall pick in the 2022 draft.

In 2024 while playing for Double-A Somerset, Jones has recorded 10 home runs, 46 RBI and a .238 batting average through 75 games and 342 plate appearances.

Crochet has been one of the top arms in baseball this year while playing for a struggling White Sox team. He’s recorded a career-high 150 strikeouts with a 3.02 ERA and 0.95 WHIP in 20 appearances on his way to his first All-Star bid. The 25-year-old would be a huge addition for the Yankees as they look to make a deep postseason run.

Skubal, another pitcher having a career year, has 140 strikeouts, a 2.41 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP in 19 appearances, recording a 10-3 record. The Cy Young Award hopeful would be a tremendous aid for New York, but the team would likely need to be aggressive at the deadline to land him.
