Nate Diaz rival says superstar can’t beat anybody in UFC besides one ranked welterweight

Nate Diaz has been counted out ahead of a potential UFC return.

The UFC superstar has been out of the Octagon for quite a while. Diaz, 40, fought out his contract against Tony Ferguson in 2022, becoming a free agent after his submission win at UFC 279.

Diaz has since boxed the likes of Jake Paul and former BMF Champion Jorge Masvidal, getting revenge on Masvidal from their first BMF title in 2019.

Still a free agent, Diaz expressed interest in a UFC comeback earlier this year, recently taking aim at current BMF champion Max Holloway after his successful title defense over Dustin Poirier at UFC 318.

Legendary referee John McCarthy claims Holloway would not just beat Diaz but dominate him in a potential fight at welterweight. His co-host says just about everybody in the UFC would.

Photo by Ronald Martinez/Getty ImagesJosh Thomson says Nate Diaz wouldn’t beat anyone in UFC today except maybe Daniel RodriguezJosh Thomson, the only fighter to have knocked out Diaz, doesn’t think Diaz would fare well against the current welterweight division.

“I don’t think he beats anyone,” Thomson said of his former foe on The Weighing In Podcast.

“There’s some fights, though, that I wouldn’t mind seeing,” Thomson admitted.

“You could have him fight Leon [Edwards] again…

“I’d watch him and D-Rod,” Thomson mentioned #13-ranked UFC welterweight Daniel Rodriguez.

“West Coast Gangsters. There’s nobody else,” Thomson said of who Diaz could potentially beat.

“Geoff Neal would murder him….

“The only person I would see is D-Rod.”

The 38-year-old Rodriguez is riding a three-fight win streak with wins over Kevin Holland, Santiago Ponzinibbio, and Alex Morono.

Josh Thomson says there’s talk of potential rematch with Nate DiazMore than a decade after their first fight, Thomson is still interested in fighting Diaz again.

The former Strikeforce champion said he was in talks to meet Diaz in a boxing co-main event months ago, but the match never came to fruition.

Thomson says he’d even fight Diaz in the BKFC ring (bare-knuckle boxing).

“I would love to get this thing settled up,” Thomson said of a potential rematch with Diaz.

“There’s been talk and conversation with his agent, my agent, that type of thing,” Thomson confirmed ongoing talks.
