The Los Angeles Lakers are doing all they can to at least have a shot at avoiding the play-in tournament with another excellent showing in Tuesday’s 128-111 win over the Toronto Raptors.

Los Angeles’ trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell all scored more than 20 points in the victory. Davis also grabbed 12 rebounds for his 19th double-double in his past 20 games played.

James is one on a heater right now with his shot. The 20-time All-Star scored 23 points on 10-of-12 shooting two days after he dropped 40 on 9-of-10 three-point shooting against the Brooklyn Nets.

Russell led all Lakers players with 25 points and made seven of his 14 attempts from behind the arc.

Fans are very impressed by what the star group for Los Angeles is doing to have the team hitting its stride going into the final stretch of the regular season:

Anthony Gharib @GharibSportsLeBron, Anthony Davis and D’Angelo Russell each had at least 20 points in the same game for the 15th time this season, per @ESPNStatsInfo.

That’s tied for the most by a Lakers trio in a season since 1979-80 — Magic, Kareem and Jamaal Wilkes.

Any concern that the Lakers’ lack of activity prior to the trade deadline would lead to more problems for the team has proven to be completely wrong. They are 16-7 in 23 games since Feb. 9, tied with the Denver Nuggets for the fourth-best record in the NBA during that span.

The only teams better than the Lakers dating back to Feb. 9 are the Boston Celtics (20-4), Dallas Mavericks (16-6) and Oklahoma City Thunder (17-7).

Even though the Lakers have been among the best teams in the league for nearly two full months, they are still trying to avoid a situation where they have to win the 9-10 game to have an opportunity to make the playoffs.

After Tuesday’s result, the Lakers are two games behind the No. 7 Phoenix Suns and No. 8 Sacramento Kings in the loss column with six games left to play.

The Lakers will wrap up their six-game road trip on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards at 7 p.m. ET. Los Angeles won the first meeting between these two teams, 134-131 in overtime, on Feb. 29 at Crypto.com Arena.
