NCAA Gymnastics News: Coached by a ‘Fierce Five’ Member, Arkansas Razorbacks Achieve Another Record-Breaking Season

Coming up after a recent loss against No. 1 Oklahoma State by 198.350-197.275, Arkansas Razorbacks entered Bud Walton Arena to compete against the Nebraska gymnastics team. Along the same lines, Arkansas, fueled by this recent loss, decided to showcase prowess on the gymnastics mat to end its regular season.

Keeping up with the expectations, Arkansas cemented their stature yet again after a pretty consecutively major winning streak this past eventful season. Interestingly, Arkansas concluded the showdown with a huge dominant victory over Nebraska Cornhuskers by 19.100-197.375 this Friday and there was a little helping hand behind this sweet victory too.

To share this ecstatic news among the spectators, the Planet of Gymnastics took to their official instagram account and posted a glimpse of an enthralling showdown against Nebraska. Alongside the video clip, they penned, “RECORD. BREAKING. SEASON. Congrats to all on your NEW highest score in SCHOOL HISTORY @razorbackgym.“

Arkansas, with this triumphant victory, clinched a new program record for the third time in the 2024 gymnastics season. Not only this, but the team also secured the victory by nearly half a point en route to achieving a stepping stone to success. Interestingly, the Razorbacks are amongst the top 12 teams to score more than 198+ points this season.

The major appreciation is for the team’s incredible roster, which swept the titles on the night. While Hailey Klein roared with 9.975s on vault, Maddie Jones and Reese Drotar secured equivalent scores in bars and floors, respectively, to keep up with the legacy of the team. Consequently, Arkansas marked the best ever vault by a freshman with Klein’s astonishing performance. However, credits are not only grabbed by the team’s roster. An able-bodied hand from the Fierce Five ilk gets credits too.

“Fierce Five”: a formidable force behind the historic Arkansas feat An Olympic gold medalist and a “Fierce Five” member/proponent from the 2012 Olympics has been a spearhead for Arkansas’ record-breaking win. The head coach of the team, Jordyn Wieber, has impacted the Arkansas gymnastics team profoundly by offering them the right guidance with the help of her remarkable experience.

Soon after joining the team way back in 2019, Jordyn helped the team to achieve their first SEC spot to advance to the NCAA Championships finals. In addition to this, the biggest achievement of the team was to secure a post-season best of 197.250 on the initial day of the event. Not only this, Wieber’s contribution to the team was displayed further with this inexorable juggernaut of a team recording incredible performances that registered five scores of 197.000+ for the first time in the history of Arkansas.  Now, Gymbacks are heading towards the 2024 SEC Gymnastics Championships scheduled to take place in New Orleans this Saturday.
