Netflix’s ‘Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft’ trailer has her backpacking to find herself

The animated Netflix series picks up where the 2018 video game left off.

Netflix has released a teaser trailer for animated series Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft, and it looks as though Lara (voiced by Hayley Atwell) is going backpacking to find herself.

Continuing from her origin story in 2018 game Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft sees Lara having ditched her friends to be a globetrotting solo adventurer. Despite this, she is eventually compelled to return home when a powerful Chinese artifact is stolen from her manor in England. Yet even this homecoming is short-lived, as Lara’s pursuit of the thief drives her to new countries with new old tombs to raid.

It isn’t clear whether Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will address the issue of exactly what the Chinese artifact was doing in an English manor in the first place. It may be a possibility, though. The show will follow Lara through her personal struggles as she confronts both who she has become and who she wants to be — while also raiding tombs, of course.

The series will also feature the voices of Allen Maldonado and Earl Baylon, who will reprise his role as Jonah from the Tomb Raider games.

How to watch: Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft arrives Oct. 10 on Netflix.
