New battleground: MotoE lands at Balaton for Round 4

HeadlinesMotoE: A week on from the fun and games in Austria, Hungary marks the halfway point of the 2025 season.Five winners in six races, ten podium finishers and a whole host of battles have made the opening three rounds of the 2025 FIM MotoEℱ World Championship some of the best. With six riders covered by less than 25 points, it’s very much game on as we head to break new ground at Balaton Park in Hungary; a new destination, will we see new names come to the fore?

Andrea Mantovani (Klint Forward Factory Team) holds a 13-point lead after a tricky Austria and hopes that Balaton Park’s more technical layout will return him to the podium battle. P2 overall and unable to make inroads into the #9’s advantage, Alessandro Zaccone (Aruba Cloud MotoE Team) is another winner who endured a challenging Red Bull Ring weekend. A double top five in Austria means Lorenzo Baldassarri (Dynavolt Intact GP) completes the top three, 19 points behind Zaccone and just two ahead of Jordi Torres (Power Electronics Aspar Team).

A crash in Race 1 was followed up with second in Race 2 last time out for Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team) and his ups and downs leave him fifth. The big mover and shaker was double winner Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE), with a 50-point haul propelling him into sixth overall, just 23 points back from Mantovani. Can he become the first MotoE rider with three consecutive wins since Casadei in 2023? After two podiums last weekend, defending World Champion Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP) is just 34 points from P1 overall in a fierce title fight.

Other names to keep an eye on include home-hero Tibor Erik Varga (Rivacold Snipers Team MotoE) who fought for a podium in Austria and achieved a career-best P4, moving up to 11th overall. His teammate Nicholas Spinelli is 35 points adrift of Mantovani, whilst Kevin Zannoni (Power Electronics Aspar Team) and Oscar Gutierrez (MSI Racing Team) round out a top ten covered by 41 points. Never discount Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) either, 13th overall but always in the podium battle with his Championship position not reflective of how competitive he is.

Catch up on Round 3 and get ready for more as we’re straight back in action at Balaton!
