New Bentley Bentayga S Black Edition Tints The Wings For The First Time

A new ‘Black Edition’ of anything is rarely interesting, nor is it groundbreaking news – it’s not exactly uncommon for manufacturers to black out any bit of trim possible for these questionably popular special editions. However, now Bentley is in the game and has gone as far as tinting its badge wings for the first time in its 105-year history.

We’re surprised it’s taken this long for a Bentayga Black Edition, really, but it’s here now. It’s the first Bentley ever to have its badge’s wings tinted in black, although the B remains white. No surprise, the text badge underneath is also painted black.

The Black Edition gets a ‘Styling Specification’ bodykit as standard which adds some racier-looking bumpers and an extended spoiler. Being an S, it already has the usual chrome bits blacked out – including the window surrounds and front grilles – but does get a new ‘Black Edition’ badge on the C-pillar. It also wears black 22-inch wheels, and some dark-tinted headlights.

A unique bit for the Black Edition that actually has some colour to it is a new accent strip running alongside the new bodykit. You can have these in a choice of seven colours – Mandarin, Signal Yellow, Klein Blue, Pillar Box Red, Ice Hyper Green or the incredibly named Beluga.

You’ll also get a Beluga leather interior (the colour, not whale skin) with a contrasting accent colour of your choice, along with all the chrome trim swapped out for – you guessed it – black trim as well as the customary Black Edition badging.

Performance remains the same as the regular Bentayga S, meaning a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing 542bhp and 568lb-ft of torque. It also gets rear-steering as standard – first introduced on the EWB we drove recently – along with a Dynamic Ride active roll bar system.

No word on price, though we assume it’ll command a bit of a premium over the £185,000 asking of a regular Bentayga S.
