New Gran Turismo 7 Update Adds A Kei Truck

In a surprise to absolutely nobody who vaguely paid attention to the internet last week, there’s a new Gran Turismo 7 update arriving tomorrow with four cars.

We say that because last week, PlayStation itself accidentally leaked the contents of the ‘what-would-have-been an unexpected mid-month update’ batch of new vehicles last week, revealing all its secrets.

Now, though, the update has been made official, and we can confirm that you will, at last, be able to drive a 2012 Suzuki Carry XC in Gran Turismo 7. Our prayers have been answered. We’ll now just hope for some pretty wild modifications to make to it.

The kei truck will be joined by another big hitter in the form of a 2021 Honda CR-V, bringing the hybrid family SUV to The Real Driving Simulator.

Some early ‘00s nostalgia comes in the form of the C5 Chevrolet Corvette Z06, adding to a rich list of cars with pop-up headlights in GT7.

Oh, and then there’s something called a ‘Ferrari 812 Superfast’. Apparently, it has a 6.5-litre V12, whatever that is. Sorry, we’re only interested in light commercial vehicles – you may have mistaken us for a site called Car Throttle or something.

We’re pretty light on extra content beyond the four new cars. Three more races are coming to World Circuits, each designed to accommodate those additions, and Sophy AI can now be used around the Circuit de Catalunya’s Grand Prix configuration.

Otherwise, that’s about all we have on update 1.59 for the moment. No new circuit this time around, and we’re beginning to wonder if it’s the end of the road for new tracks in GT7. We’ll have to wait for the patch notes for any extra info we can glean through, too, including any new engine swaps that may be added.

Update 1.59 will be available as a free download tomorrow, 15 May.
