New No. 1 in Iowa softball in Class 3A

Two-time defending Class 3A Iowa state high school softball champion Williamsburg was knocked off the No. 1 perch this week, as Dubuque Wahlert replaced them.

That was the lone change at the top among the five classes in the latest rankings released by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union.

Holding on to the other No. 1 positions were Waukee Northwest (5A), Cedar Rapids Xavier (4A), Van Meter (2A) and Clarksville (1A).

Some of the biggest jumps came from Linn-Mar, as they moved from fifth to second in 5A, ADM, as they went from 10th in 4A all the way up to fifth and Treynor, as they climbed from 14th in 2A to the No. 6 spot.

Newcomers to the rankings are Indianola in 5A, Center Point-Urbana in 3A, Griswold in 2A and Mason City Newman and Riceville in 1A.
