For example, during the era of her 1994 âMy Lifeâ album, âI was in trouble. I was in a dark place. I hated myself. I hated my life, and a lot of my fans responded⊠and was like, âMary weâre going through the same thing. We got youâ,â she said.

âAnd that created this movement weâre going through right now,â she added.
In addition to finding love and receiving musicâs top honor, Blige is more grateful to her fans than ever these days. âItâs been a long time coming and my fans know what I mean, but we came. We saw. We conquered. Weâre here,â she said during her speech at Rock Hallâs plaque dedication.

âIâm full of [gratitude]. Iâm just so full of gratitude because Iâm able to walk in love and seek peace, and Iâm not perfect, but Iâm walking in a place where Iâm headed in the right direction,â she said.

In the meantime, sheâll continue to bask in all her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame glory.
âThis is the highest honor because people are honoring you for so many other things than just your music. Theyâre honoring you for your walk of life and how youâve changed other peopleâs lives through your music,â she concluded.
