Newcastle enter race for Man Utd target Olise
Newcastle join hunt for Olise
Manchester United face competition for Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise, according to The Sun.
âManchester United have been handed a huge blow in their pursuit of Michael Olise,â the report begins.
âThat’s after Newcastle United entered the race for the star, with the Magpies prepared to pay Crystal Palace’s ÂŁ60million asking price for the winger.
âOlise showed exactly why United have been after him last night, scoring a brace as Palace dispatched United 4-0.
âUnited part-owners Ineos have reportedly been tracking Olise, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe thought to be a fan of the player.
âPalace had to resist interest from Chelsea for Olise’s signature last season, but he ultimately signed a new contract with The Eagles.â
West Ham eye up Wesley
The Daily Mail believes that West Ham are looking to reinvigorate their squad this summer by bringing in Corinthians teenager Wesley.
The forward is rated at ÂŁ21m, and West Ham have already been rebuffed once.
The paper states: âWest Ham United are targeting Corinthians teenager Wesley as part of the club’s move in a different direction this summer.
âMail Sport understands the Hammers watched the opening game of the Brazilian Serie A season last month to make checks on the 19-year-old.
âWesley, who can operate off either wing or in behind a striker, is valued at around ÂŁ21million by Corinthians, who have already knocked back West Ham’s opening proposal.
âSporting director Tim Steidten was in Sao Paulo last summer for talks with the seven-time national champions over other potential targets.
âBut interest in Wesley has ramped up over the past few months and his Serie A form â scoring twice in the first five matches â is alerting a host of clubs across Europe.â
United draw up managerial shortlist
Thomas Tuchel is the first name on the list to replace Erik ten Hag at Manchester United.
The paper writes: âManchester United hit a new low with Mondayâs shambolic 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace. Manager Erik ten Hag is effectively on trial until the end of the season, with Unitedâs new technical director Jason Wilcox auditing the Dutchman before the club make a final decision on his future.
âTuchel is due to leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season and is thought to be very interested in the United job should it become available.
âThe former Champions League-winning Chelsea manager has been on United shortlists in the past and there is recognition among the new Old Trafford hierarchy that the 50-year-old is accomplished and fluid tactically, articulate, has knowledge of the Premier League and a track record of winning.â
West Ham wait on Lopetegui
West Ham have decided not to confirm the replacement for David Moyes after regretting the way the matter was dealt with.
Moyes was well aware his future was uncertain at the London Stadium, and the Evening Standard believes they will now hold off on any confirmation.
The outlet reports: âJulen Lopetegui is set to become West Ham boss, but a formal unveiling will be delayed until after the final game of the season.
âWest Ham on Monday confirmed that David Moyes will leave the club by mutual consent when his contract expires at the end of the campaign, bringing an end to his four-and-a-half year spell in charge.
âMoyes, who led the club to Europa Conference League glory last term, was close to signing a new deal at the midway point of this season, but a run of just four victories across competitions in 2024 has seen a promising campaign fizzle out.
âInternally, however, there is a sense of regret at the public manner in which the pursuit of potential replacements has played out and there is, therefore, a determination that Lopetegui’s appointment will not be confirmed while Moyes is still in his job.â
