Michael Penix Jr. has met with several teams ahead of the 2024 NFL draft after his pro day at Washington on Thursday.

The quarterback already had dinner with the New York Giants before he participated in a private workout for the Minnesota Vikings in Seattle, according to NFL insider Jordan Schultz. Penix Jr. also has upcoming top-30 meetings with organizations such as the Denver Broncos, Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, and Washington Commanders.

While the former Washington standout was known for his arm talent rather than his athleticism, he turned heads during the pro day by posting a 40-yard dash time of 4.46 seconds to go along with a 36.5″ vertical jump.

Penix Jr. revealed that he has an upcoming visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers as well, according to ESPN’s Brady Henderson. The 23-year-old isn’t expected to be one of the top picks in the draft due to his injury history, although he could be an intriguing option for a quarterback-needy organization picking outside of the top 10.

While some teams such as the Steelers and Falcons aren’t necessarily looking for a starting quarterback in the 2024 season, Penix Jr. could realistically compete for a first-string job right away on others such as the Broncos and Raiders.

“If nothing else, Penix’s selection is an indication of what a team wants their offense to be,” B/R NFL Scout Derrik Klassen said. “Penix is a human flak cannon. He has a booming arm and a penchant for attacking down the field whenever possible.”

After his impressive pro day, there appears to be no shortage of interest in Penix Jr.
